Tuesday May 15th from 9:30am to 4:30pm! Save the Date CAYSI – Children And Youth with Sensory Impairment and other disabilities is sponsoring this training in collaboration with the Community Parent Resource Center (CPRC) in Springdale. You will: Make New Friends, Renew Old Friendships, Gain New Insight, and Reaffirm your Value as Parents and Leaders of children with dual sensory impairment. Jana Villemez, CAYSI Family Consultant, will lead this training thru video, discussion, simulations, and activities to learn more about: Deaf-blindness—What is it? Does it really describe my child? How can we compensate for my child’s vision and hearing loss? Vision—Impact of combined vision and hearing loss; vision loss adaptations and devices. Hearing—How it works; hearing problems; testing; hearing loss adaptations and devices. Touch—The importance of touch; early experiences with touch; using touch as the basis for communication. Concept Development—Concepts are the ideas that help us understand the “why” and “meaning” of things.
